Stop Asking the Question That's Keeping You Trapped

LIFT Newsletter 042

If results are moving, keep going. If they're not, shift the question and move.

March 1st. Two months into the year, and you're probably doing one of two things right now.

Either you're gaining real momentum, with opportunities flowing, conversations happening. If that's you, keep going. Don't interrupt what's working.

Or you're feeling stuck in the same patterns, wondering why your hard work isn't translating into the results you want.

If you're in the second group, you're likely making one mistake that feels productive while quietly draining your momentum.

You're asking the wrong question: Why.

Why am I stuck again, even though I'm working so hard? Why aren't they seeing my value, when I've been delivering everything? Why does nothing feel like it's moving forward?

Here's what happens when you ask "why" without results: You spiral into analysis paralysis.

You replay conversations and overthink every move. Meanwhile, precious time passes, and the gap between where you are and where you want to be gets wider.

This is why "what" changes everything.

"What" brings you back to the only place where real change can happen: the next concrete step you're willing to take.

When you want a new role:

Instead of asking why you're not getting callbacks, ask what would genuinely improve your odds this week. Send one strategically crafted application. Quality beats quantity every time.

When you want that promotion:

Instead of asking why your contributions aren't being recognized, ask what evidence would make you the obvious choice. Pick one outcome your manager truly cares about and take one clear step toward owning it.

When you want your voice to be heard:

Instead of asking why you keep getting overlooked in meetings, ask what you would say if you trusted yourself completely. Start with one clear, confident statement in your next discussion.

Here's what I've learned after coaching hundreds of professionals through breakthrough moments: Explanations never change your trajectory. Actions do.

As we head deeper into 2026, pick your "what" for the next 24 hours. Something simple and specific. One message you've been avoiding. One application you've been delaying. One conversation you know needs to happen.

Then email me hello@lift-ex.com and tell me what you chose. I respond to every single message, and I'm rooting for you

Lead Beyond Yourself. Rise Beyond Limits.

Yours “what”,

Cassandra Nadira and the LIFT team.
